When You’re Ready to Get Started on an Improved Quality of Life for a Loved One
Once you have decided to move forward with home care services to help a loved one age gracefully at home, we’re here to help you understand what happens next.
We understand that the need for home care can develop suddenly, and an older adult’s ability to live independently can change quickly. We’ve been serving families in Broward County since 2015 and are prepared to respond with the urgency you need and deserve. Here’s what you can expect when you contact us.
Your Home Care Consultation
The first step is to schedule an initial consultation with one of our experienced home care registered nurses to learn more about the person’s needs and offer recommendations. During the initial meeting, our RN will speak with the older adult to learn about their emotional and physical needs.
We will discuss detailed information about our home care services and any specific requests or concerns your family may have. A medical history will also be obtained, including a review of medications.
This meeting is a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have as we work together to develop a personalized care plan. You can expect the initial meeting with our RN to usually last up to an hour.
Topics that are usually addressed during our initial meeting include:
- Logistics: We will discuss various logistical concerns, including scheduling, accessing your loved one’s home, documentation and guidelines on how to address scheduling changes, and how to work best with your caregiver.
- Physical needs: We will go over the specific needs of the individual in terms of nutrition, hydration, mobility, incontinence, personal care needs, dressing, and bathing.
- Emotional needs: We will discuss the person’s emotional needs for companionship, conversation, activities, and social interaction. For example, we can plan social activities and transportation to the local senior center.
- Homemaking: The individual may need general home assistance with homemaking tasks such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed linen changing, grocery shopping, and meal preparation.

When you partner with Jewish Family Home Care, you can feel confident knowing what sets us apart from other home care companies:
Caregiver Training and Support
We believe our caregivers are our best asset. Unlike some home care agencies that employ caregivers only as third-party contractors, our caregivers are part of our staff and receive ongoing support and training to provide the best level of care.
Strict Caregiver Hiring Practices
You can trust that a loved one is in good hands with us. Our caregivers go through a strict and rigorous hiring process that includes a Level 2 criminal background check as well as verification of licensing and certificates, bonding, and insurance for your peace of mind.
Flexible Scheduling
Care needs can change frequently. We offer flexible scheduling options to fit the needs of each individual we serve. Home care services options may include 24-hour or overnight care or care as short as 4 hours. However, if someone only needs assistance with bathing, we also offer 2-hour bath visits.
